Review:
Sudden Death is the first single off of Megadeth’s most recent album, Th1rt3en. The song was originally recorded and mixed for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as an exclusive track and was originally given away as a free download to help promote the song for the Grammy’s as well as the game. The original mix is different from that which appeared on the album with some more guitar overdubs and an altered intro. This is also the first studio recording of Megadeth with David Ellefson since The World Needs a Hero was releases in 2001.

This song is one of the best “new” Megadeth songs I’ve heard in a while, while it isn’t that classic ’80s Megadeth sound, it is still a classic Megadeth song with signature Dave Mustaine vocals and ripping guitar solos; there is no doubt that this thrash metal. I know some people will just write this off as another technical thrash metal song (which is in-part true) but it also has a catchy chorus isn’t all pure shredding. I really enjoy the song and it is a good sample of Megadeth’s more modern sound at it’s best and if you enjoy it then I’d recommend you check out the band’s two most recent albums: Endgame and Th1rt3en.
